I did a little research yesterday to update my most popular list. Here are the most popular sofas so far for 2012.
Number ONE on the overall hit parade is the Laramie sofa from Broyhill.
This is the most popular sofa in any category. It should almost have its own special place in the Broyhill Gallery up on 4th floor.
The traditional Laramie Sofa is a classic choice for any décor, with curvy rolled arms, nailhead trim, and a modern unskirted base. Leather-look fabric is just one of your fabric and finish options.
Number TWO on the list is a reclining sofa – the Trevor from LaZBoy. “Sink back and surround yourself in complete comfort in the Trevor La-Z-Time Full Reclining Sofa. With a luxuriously soft pillow top seat and generously padded back, this sleek and stylish look is ready for relaxing.” That is what LaZBoy has to say about this fine reclining sofa and I am inclined to agree. I really like the microfiber fabric, especially since this is usually used in the family room. What a great fabric – durable and easy to keep clean.
It is time to go to leather for our Number THREE pick and this one drives us crazy. This beautiful leather sofa comes to us from Natuzzi Editions and it is hard to get. Natuzzi is an Italian company noted the world over for its fine leather upholstery but they make their sofas in other countries. These come to us from the Natuzzi plant in China. Real Italian leather – tanned in the Natuzzi tanneries in Italy, the hides are then sent to the factory in China to be made up into sofas. The lead time for our orders is three to four months. As a result, we just cannot get enough of these sofas to meet the demand. Word goes out fast when a container is arriving. We got a shipment in September and the sofas sold out in two weeks. I have one orphaned chair on first floor if you would like to see what I am talking about. Then my suggestion is to follow us on Facebook – Theresa is good about letting people Know when the next shipment is coming.
Number FOUR is a personal favorite of mine-the Hudson from Bassett. Gorgeous top-grain leathers and it is made in Bassett, VA so we can get it quicker. We can also custom order in different colors. I really like the contemporary look of the track arms and the block leg. Add in a solid feel in the seat and the right depth for my short legs and this one is a winner in my book.
Number FIVE is the Club Room from Bassett. This one is featured in our Bassett Gallery on 2nd floor. Another traditional look, this time in a luxurious chenille fabric. With nail-head trim, recessed rolled arm, and spool feet this sofa adds an air of elegance to your living room that is hard to miss. The Club Room is also available in a variety of fabrics if you would like to customize it to your specific taste.
Well there you are – the winners so far for 2012. I see that microfiber is still popular and leather is definitely strong. It appears our Midwest eye goes more to a traditional look but that doesn’t surprise me. These are all sturdy, long-lasting designs that would make you feel at home in any house. Browns are still the color of choice. I think that is partly because of what is available from the manufacturers but also what people seem to want. We will see if that is the case this spring. Bob just came back from market and he says that blue is coming back.
Halloween is just a few days away and from the view outside of the store windows – winter may be coming soon also.
